Pregnancy should be a time of excitement and joy, yet for many women it can be plagued with discomfort, pain and even illness.  Throughout pregnancy women undergo numerous hormonal and structural changes which will affect the function of the spine, joints, nerves and ligaments.

It is easy to see postural changes throughout pregnancy-the centre of gravity changes, the weight of the baby places increased pressure on the spine and pelvis, and changes are seen in the gait pattern.

A recent study revealed that 70% of expectant mothers experienced low back pain at some point during their pregnancy.  Because drugs and medication can cause fetal damage or malformations, it is important to avoid them whenever possible.  A drug-free approach to having a properly working spine and nervous system provides the mother and child with a better chance at good health.  In one study, women receiving Chiropractic care through their first pregnancy had 24% shorter labor times than the group not receiving Chiropractic, and multiparous subjects reported 39% shorter labor times. In addition, 84% of women report relief of back pain during pregnancy with Chiropractic care.

We often simply look at the outside appearance and forget that millions of hormonal and chemical reactions are occurring in both the mother and developing baby which are being coordinated and controlled by the nervous system.  The role of your chiropractor is to ensure that the spinal column and pelvis are balanced and are free of vertebral subluxations allowing the nervous system to work at 100%.

  • Dr. Peter Hryciuk is truly the best chiropractor I’ve ever been to. I’ve struggled for years with neck tension and back pain, and he was the first chiropractor to take the time to do an in-depth examination and get x-rays to truly understand what was going on. He walked me through my x-rays and created a personalized treatment plan tailored to my specific needs. Since seeing Dr. Peter, my life has changed for the better. I no longer deal with chronic neck pain or tension. Even more amazingâ... Read More
  • I started going to Dr. Marco back in January 2020 when I was suffering a lower back injury. After seeing the reviews on google, I decided to give him a chance and I haven't looked back. Dr. Marco has helped me in my recovery and brought me back to feeling healthier than ever. He is extremely knowledgeable, kind and easy to talk too. Not to mention, the prices are very reasonable and not overpriced. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a chiropractor in Etobicoke.
  • I have had very positive experiences with Royal York Chiropractic. While Dr. Peter has predominantly been overseeing my care, I have had adjustments with Dr. Marco as well. Both are competent, caring, friendly and willing to answer questions. Anna keeps the office well-organized and the few times I've had to wait, it has never been for long.
  • I have been seeing Dr. Marco for many years now and he helps me each time I see him. He’s friendly, knowledgeable and has a level of clinical awareness that comes from years of experience which helps to create an overall positive interaction. Making appointments is never an issue and the clinic environment is welcoming and relaxing. Highly recommend him!
