The first system to grow inside you was your nervous system. It is comprised of your brain, spinal cord and the nerves branching out to supply all of your organs and almost 75 trillion cells with the energy to heal, grow and differentiate. In fact, every one of your internal organs, like your heart, lungs and kidneys developed after your nervous system was created.
Your spinal cord and nerves are the lifeline between the brain and body and are well protected by the spinal bones or vertebrae. However, problems can exist in the nervous system when any one of these 24 vertebrae lose their motion or position. Chiropractors call this condition the vertebral subluxation complex. Subluxations are caused by car accidents, slips and falls, sports injuries, poor posture, emotional stress and even traumatic birth. It is the role of the Chiropractor to find and correct subluxations using natural, gentle adjustments.
When the nervous system is functioning at 100%, all communication from the brain flows to the body without any interference. With vertebral subluxation, the process is obstructed.
