Summer road trips offer an exciting opportunity to explore the vast and diverse landscapes of Canada. However, spending long hours in the car can lead to discomfort and stiffness.

To ensure a comfortable and enjoyable journey, the Canadian Chiropractic Association recommends the following:

Take Regular Breaks:

During long drives, it’s important to take regular breaks to stretch your muscles and improve circulation. Plan stops every couple of hours to get out of the car, walk around, and perform quick stretches. This helps alleviate muscle tension and stiffness and keeps you refreshed for the drive.

Neck and Shoulder Stretches:

Sitting for extended periods can cause tension and tightness in your neck and shoulders. To relieve discomfort, perform simple stretches like neck rolls, shoulder shrugs, and shoulder circles. These stretches help improve flexibility and prevent muscle strain.

Back Stretches:

Sitting for long durations can put strain on your lower back. To alleviate discomfort and maintain a healthy spine, perform seated back stretches. For example, sit upright and slowly twist your torso to one side, holding the position for a few seconds before repeating on the other side. This helps stretch the muscles in your back and provides relief.

Hip and Leg Stretches:

Keep your hips and legs limber during road trips by performing seated hip stretches and leg exercises. Extend one leg at a time, flexing and pointing your toes, and rotate your ankles to improve blood flow and prevent stiffness.

Stay Hydrated and Eat Well:

Proper hydration and nutrition are essential for overall well-being during road trips. Drink plenty of water and consume healthy snacks to maintain your energy levels and avoid dehydration. Proper nutrition helps keep your muscles and joints in optimal condition.

By incorporating these tips on your summer road trip, you can make the most of your adventure across Canada. Remember to practice safe driving habits, take breaks as needed, and enjoy the beautiful sights and experiences along the way.

  • I started going to Dr. Marco back in January 2020 when I was suffering a lower back injury. After seeing the reviews on google, I decided to give him a chance and I haven't looked back. Dr. Marco has helped me in my recovery and brought me back to feeling healthier than ever. He is extremely knowledgeable, kind and easy to talk too. Not to mention, the prices are very reasonable and not overpriced. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a chiropractor in Etobicoke.
  • What a great experience to work with Dr Peter. He’s so thorough, so knowledgeable and so great at explaining why and what he’s doing. The orthotics that he prescribed and ordered for me have made a big difference! Highly recommended.
  • I have been seeing Dr. Marco for many years now and he helps me each time I see him. • Royal York Chiropractic was recommended to me by multiple people, so I decided to give it a go for my back and shoulder problems. My first experience with Dr. Marco was extremely positive. He is very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. His honesty and commitment to improving my pain is what kept me coming back. Very positive experience!
  • I have had very positive experiences with Royal York Chiropractic. While Dr. Peter has predominantly been overseeing my care, I have had adjustments with Dr. Marco as well. Both are competent, caring, friendly and willing to answer questions. Anna keeps the office well-organized and the few times I've had to wait, it has never been for long.
