The holiday season is fast approaching. People tend to fall out of their typical routines and their time turns more towards vacation days and time off from work. Whether you are travelling or staying at home for the season, you can still remain active, healthy, and safe. Things can get hectic this time of year, but one of the things you have complete control over is—you!

November is fall prevention month.

When it comes to preventing falls, we have some advice that goes a bit further than “watch your step.” There are many choices you can make in your daily activities that will reduce your risk of falling. Check out these tips for simple things you can do to stay safely on your feet.

  1. Vision:Remove your reading glasses when you are walking. Always slip them off before you take a step.
  2. Reach: Never climb on a chair or stool to reach something. Always ask for assistance.
  3. Pets: If you have a pet such as a cat or dog, consider putting a bell or reflector on its collar. It’s easy to stumble across an affectionate or sleeping pet that’s in your path.
  4. Visitors: Take your time. If you frequently find yourself rushing to pick-up the phone, consider investing in a cordless phone that you can keep near you. Don’t rush to answer the door. The visitor will wait.
  5. Dressing: Always sit down to put on or take off shoes and clothing. Place a chair or bench near the entranceway.
  6. Children: Keep hallways and stairs free of children’s toys.
  7. Footwear: Wear shoes or slippers with non-slip soles indoors. That means you might have to give up that pair of loose, comfy slippers with the worn soles.
  8. Assistance:Ask for help if you need it. Most people like to lend a hand.

  • I started going to Dr. Marco back in January 2020 when I was suffering a lower back injury. After seeing the reviews on google, I decided to give him a chance and I haven't looked back. Dr. Marco has helped me in my recovery and brought me back to feeling healthier than ever. He is extremely knowledgeable, kind and easy to talk too. Not to mention, the prices are very reasonable and not overpriced. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a chiropractor in Etobicoke.
  • Royal York Chiropractic was recommended to me by multiple people, so I decided to give it a go for my back and shoulder problems. My first experience with Dr. Marco was extremely positive. He is very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. His honesty and commitment to improving my pain is what kept me coming back. Very positive experience!

He’s friendly, knowledgeable and has a level of clinical awareness that comes from years of experience which helps to create an overall positive interaction. Making appointments is never an issue and the clinic environment is welcoming and relaxing. Highly recommend him!
  • I have had very positive experiences with Royal York Chiropractic. While Dr. Peter has predominantly been overseeing my care, I have had adjustments with Dr. Marco as well. Both are competent, caring, friendly and willing to answer questions. Anna keeps the office well-organized and the few times I've had to wait, it has never been for long.
  • I have been seeing Dr. Marco for a few years now and he helps me every time. His adjustments are precise and effective, he knows what he is doing. He can be aggressive or as gentle as you need.
